Virtual Console Dreaming: Banjo-Tooie Update

Happy Friday!

Yesterday Nintendo announced it’s bringing Banjo-Tooie to Nintendo Switch Online. The second adventure starring the bear and the bird will be available to Expansion Pack subscribers on October 25th (the same day Splatoween kicks off if any squids are reading).

I haven’t touched the sequel yet but I played Banjo-Kazooie for the first time a few years back and it holds up extremely well. Few devs have had a run as legendary as Rare did in the early to late nineties (Donkey Kong Country, Killer Instinct, Donkey Kong Country 2, Donkey Kong Country 3, Goldeneye, Banjo-Kazooie, Jet Force Gemini, Donkey Kong 64, Perfect Dark, Banjo-Tooie, and Conker’s Bad Fur Day). It’s nice to have another one of their platforming cornerstones easily accessible.

Since this update only had one game, I thought it would be fun to include my wish list of things for Nintendo to bring to their Online Service. I reserve the right to endlessly expand this list as I discover new stuff (if something obvious is absent, like Chrono Trigger, it probably means I’ve already played it or own a physical copy–but feel free to shout it out on my Twitter or Instagram–or rerelease Chrono Trigger). I’ll continue to post this list at the bottom of future entries in this series of articles. We can eventually cross them all off together (I know this is delusional but being a little bit delusional keeps us going).
