Virtual Console Dreaming: Wario Land 4 Update

Wario Land 4 by Nintendo

That didn’t take long.

Nintendo has announced they’re bringing Wario Land 4 to Nintendo Switch Online. This type of chaotic platformer (does this genre have a name yet?) has seen a resurgence over the last couple years with titles like Pizza Tower and Antonblast. It’s nice to finally have some of that inspirational source material easily accessible.

RIP Wario–welcome back Wario.

I’ve never played a Wario game that doesn’t also have “Ware” in the title, so this is a strong addition for me. It looks fun, was critically acclaimed at release, and the pixel art is gorgeous. I hope the rumors about the Switch 2 reviving the GameCube library are true because I’d love to check out Wario World (a game I literally know nothing about beyond its box art).

Wario Land 4 will be available to Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pass subscribers on February 14th through the GBA launcher.

Here is my Nintendo Switch Online wishlist. There have been no updates since last week.

Thanks for reading. If you’ve been away from the site for a while, you should check out the interviews that went up over the last couple weeks. Also, I posted a new style of article yesterday where I take an existing IP and reimagine it as a video game. My first subject for this (hopefully)  ongoing series? The Unrivaled Basketball league.

Have a great weekend! Go play everything.
