It’s a Sprint: Games Leaving PlayStation Plus December 17th Edition

Mega Man 11 by Capcom

Something new I learned since the last time I covered PlayStation Plus departures is if you visit a game’s page (whether in the PlayStation Plus tab or on your home screen if it’s already installed) it’ll tell you  not only the date it’s leaving but also an exact timestamp. For instance, games from this previous group were marked as leaving at 9am on November 19th. So if you find yourself in a situation where you need to pull an all-nighter to finish a sloppy playthrough of Blasphemous, the necessary information to support your poor decisions is available.

Blasphemous is very good by the way, though just cryptic enough it can be despairing to crawl through while sleep deprived (they’re telegraphed pretty well on the map, but it still contains hidden walls that need to be knocked down). Imagine Hollow Knight if it was built on a foundation of graphic, medieval Christian mythology. I’d recommend it if you have the itch to play a Metroidvania (and aren’t squeamish).

Here is the list of games leaving on December 17th. It’s a tough one for the second month in a row. If we later learn we’re losing more, I’ll post an update below the main text.

Do yourself a favor and check out Tinykin. It’s fast and one of the best 3D platformers I’ve ever played.

I think it might be time to finally play a Mega Man game. They represent a significant gaming blind spot for me. They also have a reputation for being difficult (just hopefully not the type of difficult you grind away at for more than a month).

I still plan to have a couple articles up before the end of the week. As expected, my breakdown of the Game Award nominations is spiraling out of control. In a good way? You’ll just have to wait and see.
